Sandra is the face behind Pole Sisters Fitness and she has a very inspiring story as to how Pole Sisters came to be! Her story truly encompasses how having fun can help someone to overcome obstacles in life that may hold you back from happiness.
Going back to the 90’s, after studying Kinesiology, Sandra started her career in health and fitness working at Spa Lady. She specialized in treating women with knee and back injuries, through the use of personalized treatment programs that included:
aerobics
stretching
circuit training
cross training
strength training
and more…
Fast forward to her second pregnancy, Sandra became very ill. It would turn out that she had become diabetic and her life now depended on insulin injections 3x per day! Her diabetes had led her health down a slipper slope. After five complicated abdominal surgeries and a host of other health problems, Sandra has lost herself.
One day at the doctors office, she got a wake up call! The nurse had written down her weight on the chart and Sandra was blown away! She has put on 60 pounds! The doctor told her that she needed to start getting moving!
That week, Sandra discovered Pole Fitness. She quickly realized how incredible of a workout it was and how happy she felt when she did it! She felt alive again! Her two boys and loving husband were finally seeing her smile come back!
Now, Sandra uses her story, experience and love of pole as her motivation and drive help women across Vancouver Island!
In an interview with Sandra, she had this to say…
“I wasn’t watching the clock like I would at the gym… I was loving every single minute of pole and wondering how it could be so much fun and still be exercise!
I started going once a week and without changing my diet, I lost 12lbs in the first 6 weeks!
I was blown away by how well it was working… Dancing, laughing and having fun… yet lifting only my own body weight and being totally exhausted at the end of class! I kept at it and was down 50lbs in 7 months and was feeling stronger and more flexible than I had ever been!
AND, its gets better… my doctor had been monitoring me since I started pole fitness and my body began running so efficiently and my muscle mass had increased so much that I was able to completely stop my insulin injections and blood pressure medications.
I wanted to share my story and tell everyone how completely amazing pole fitness is… and so I opened Pole Sisters Fitness Studio in May of 2015 and my dream of spreading my love of pole came true.”
